Rachel's World:

One way or another I'd be the first the tell you, you're in for a wild ride if you're hunting info on Rachel Dickson. For whatever reason you've found yourself reading this, what follows is the nutshell version.

I've always loved the outdoors and most anything to do with being outside.  Yet at the same time, I enjoy computers as well.  I'll agree, that's a pretty odd pairing, but it is nonetheless.

So I suppose that's why I seem to excel when it comes of the business of the outdoors.  I also love talking about and convincing others into doing what I love to do.  I found my passion for whitewater rafting right out of college.  I worked for "Rafting in the Smokies" for 9 years starting as a reservationist (fancy word for talking people into doing what I loved to do: raft) and moving into a marketing/promotions director position.

At the same time I was serving in the US Army Reserve as a Postal Platoon Leader.  There's definitely something to "blowing stuff up" as they say in the movies.  I loved shooting cool weapons and "blowing stuff up" as they say.

I'm self-taught when it comes to web design.  That came somewhat out of necessity.  I grew up around computers, but in the coming of age of the Internet I quickly learned that I really loved web design and its implementation.

I seem to be gaining loads of online marketing skills too because I thrive on assisting the companies I work for in making their online presence as productive as possible.  I'm not sure if they find me or if I find them...either way...I've made a lot of progress in the learning curve of what works, why and why not.

Along the way I learned a bunch of other skills, but I always seem to go back to something to do with the outdoors as my passion.  And I think the look on my face in the above right photo tells all.  I can't hide it...no matter how hard (or not) I might try.
